I configured some lower resolutions on Xfree (e.g 640x480 etc) and now when I F9 to fullscreen I get a reasonable sized view - previously I only had 1600x1200 configured (all I normally need on my lovely 21" Sun monitor ;P ).

yes, it was a bit raw, but future version will allow more flexibility from this point of view (soft resizing isn't too hard to do, just requires some more cpu, but it should be ok for most ppl)
