I downloaded the new Hu-go! (2.09 windows version) and when I double click the "hugo.exe" file it starts and quits rapidly for some reason. Here are my specs:
Athlon 1.4ghz
256mb of ram
Geforce 3
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (sound card)
Sidewinder (gamepad)
Not sure why it wont work since the old DOS Hu-Go! works perfectly fine.
By the way...the "stdout.txt" shows this text:
* Initialising Dos/VGA Allegro driver.
* Allocating buffers...
* ENGLISH selected
* Translation by Zeograd
* Clearing main buffer... * OK
* Initing sound...
* Audio device initialized at 0 bits SDL sound card 0 Hz
See Ya!
So I'm figuring it may be my sound card that is causing the crashes....this happens with EVERY windows version..very strange.
hi,
once again, the good ol' read the doc stuff :)
"Since it still lacks a easy to use configuration and a file selector, you'd rather use a front end or drag'n drop to play hucards rom and cd isos."
If launched alone, it won't stay since there's no game provided. I'm working on an eventual gtk interface but I still can't cross compile gtk programs from linux. I could make an inteface but for linux users :)
I really hope that next version will propose an alternative to the good olf dos interface which was, even if not very ergonomic, working ..
Regards
I have not seen that in any "doc".. at least not any that comes in the emulator unless I missed it in your webpage. Sorry about that.
I still cannot get it to run using either your frontend or the "eagans" frontend.. whether I want to use a rom or my real cd. I tried to specify the letter of the drive I'm using (my first drive is "E:")..but neither seem to work at all.
ok...I decided to run the new Hu-Go! under DOS...and I used the command line
hugo -c1 -ie (E is my cd drive letter)
After pressing ENTER I see the "Super System 2.0" screen with "Press Run" on it.. but for some reason it goes to the cd player when I press ENTER which is the default run button. My gamepad doesnt work either...I'll keep trying. Sorry for bothering you..but I have a bunch of cd's I want to try!
I have exactly the same problem that Raystorm has, except by the fact that Hu-go! 2.08 didnt work in my PC neither. In fact, when I saw that a new version of Hu-go had appeared, Icame here quickly to download and test it as it seems to be a gorgeous emulator.
My PC:
Pentium III 1Ghz
256MB PC-133 of RAM
Voodoo 3 3000 AGP
Sound Blaster 128-PCI
Gravis Gamepad Pro
Neither the two of you specified their OS. I experience the same issues as you, and I run Win2k. I guess Hu-Go must have a problem with NT-based systems.
hmm,
I would have tended to say it was a NT related problem, as the aspi driver currently used in hugo is the one provided to DOS (tested under win95 and win98 [even se] ).
Anyway, I've asked a coder to help me by furnishing a piece of code able to hook the aspi driver in pure windows mode. Since the aspi driver is available up to the XP version, it should cover all windows version for now.
For those who didn't get any result in this version, could you please try with version 2.00 dos ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the inconvenients.
